The Tournament Course at The Golf Course of Houston
The Golf Club of Houston (GCOH) and the Tournament Course are the home of the Houston Cougar Golf Teams as well as the Shell Houston Open
The 7,422 yard course is a Rees Jones/David Toms design and hosts the PGA Tour each spring. The course has received stellar reviews from Tour players on a yearly basis. Today, the SHO is the lead-in to the Masters each Spring.
GCOH transforms the Tournament Course each winter in order to play more like Augusta National. To do so, the superintendent overseeds the greens to rye/bentgrass and heavily overseeds the fairways and tees with rye. This allows Tour players to replicate what they’ll see at Augusta. Because of this effort, the SHO routinely draws one of the best fields on the PGA Tour.
The Tournament Course hosts the All-American Intercollegiate Invitational, the last major event on the course each year before the Shell Houston Open.
The Golf Club of Houston is home to the Dave Williams Golf Academy, the 4,000 square foot facility exclusively built for the UH Golf Teams. For more about the Dave Williams Golf Academy, click here.
